Small-scale farmers play an incredibly important role within their communities, often producing a significant portion of the food consumed locally. This donation contributes to Oxfam’s work around the world, including programs that enable farmers to improve their soil, boost their crop yields, and create a more stable and reliable food supply, ensuring everyone has enough to eat. For Seetha, that meant taking the struggling five-acre cinnamon farm she inherited from her parents and turning it into a thriving business, after joining Oxfam’s Resilient and Gender Inclusive Enterprise Systems (RIES) project in Sri Lanka.
“I am very happy to say that RIES project change my life,” Seetha says. “RIES helped me to be equipped with new technologies in soil conservation, cultivation management, and peeling, too.”
Oxfam acknowledges the support of the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP).
